Production numbers for route 66 pt's?

Just curious if anyone knows how many yellow route 66's were built.

I have emailed Chrysler a few times asking, each time they told me the numbers weren't yet available. Finally in the last email they told me the numbers would be available in late Jan. No idea why it would take that long.... [:I]

Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are still be taking orders or building them [:I]

I emailed chrysler and got this as a reply.
(According to our records, at this time, the production numbers for the
yellow Route 66 Chrysler PT Cruiser has not been released. Our records
indicate that 1,443 Route 66 Chrysler PT Cruisers were produced in 2006.)

It would be nice to find out how many yellow 1's were built.Chrysler produced a black route 66 that wasnt sold in usa.

I have only seen 2 others besides my car.I think if they did better advertising and offered it with a turbo sales would have been better.I had my car for 3 months when i had to go to the dealer to get a spare key.When i came out of the parts department there were 3 salesmen standing near my car and 1 asked where i had the car painted.If a chrysler salesmen didnt know the color was available how could the general public.I have had my car for over a year and like i said i have only seen 2 others and 1 was at a pt show.So i guess its kind of cool to know there were not many made.
