Back from Daytona

Just got back from The Daytona show. What a great event. Weather was perfect and hundreds of cars and vendors to visit. Good crowd of PT's showed up mostly from the Florida PT Cruiser Club. Free picture as you entered to be mounted with a dash plaque on a 5X7 wooden base.

Is the "!st Coast PT Cruiser Club" still holding their meet at the Daytona Speedway on May 11th with the opportunity to do 2 laps of the track??? -PTzPT

Yes, there's still the gathering in May but don't get your hopes up about haulin' your PT around the circuit like the NASCAR guys. It takes a speed of 75mph to stay up on the banking....so they're not gonna allow you go get up to that speed to be on the banking. The two laps on the track will be down at the bottom...but after saying that, it will be a thrill to most people to travel around the bottom half of the world famous 2 1/2 miles of Daytona.

I've been told we will be escorted around the track by a track pacecar (NO Hot-Rodding) and that the road course in the infield will be used also. So even if we have to drive the apron, it should be a chance to get some great tape footage on the camcorder! It's just a 2 1/2 hour drive over to Daytona so I'm looking forward to it. -PTzPT

There were two meetings at Daytona. The florida PT Cruiser club (FPTCC) which I belong, and a lot of other clubs (Impala's, Fiaro's, Chevell's) all met and showed their cars (see pic below). Yes, they will do it every year. The other PT group (First Coast Cruisers) out of Jacksonville I think, went to Daytona and actually got on the track. My original picture was on the track also but only for a short time while pic was taken. I don't know if they plan on doing it again next year.
