Looks great and a great job. About how long did it take you?

If you include total time to dry for everything, it took me over 24 hours of work. But if you just count the time spent cutting and putting on the wire-loom and applying paint and clearcoat and moving and removing pieces, I'd say no more than five or six hours total...it was easy and a lot of fun and a LOT cheaper than everything else.

RN,
Lookin Good! Like me, I think we both need some sort of battery cover. There's a couple out there on the market and I'm trying to deceide which way I want to go. If you use your car for a daily driver, don't forget to wipe down the engine compartment every couple of days. I use a soft paint brush. It makes it a lot easier to get ready for a show if you stay on top of it and don't let the dust/dirt build up.

At least once a week, I clean it, whether there's a show or not. Whenever I do more work, I clean it then too. I have an old, soft bristled toothbrush I use to get most things since I can't reach a lot in such a small engine compartment. Someone suggested using part of the old airbox for the cover...I'm gonna look into that first, before buying since I have no money due to recent purchases not yet installed. :P

Thanks for the complements!

Here's a suggestion. I hate to see the fluid hose for the windshield washer hanging out for everyone to see. I relocated my so it would follow up the hood hinge and under hood cover. Looks a lot better. You have to take off the tee that conects it on the hood, change to a splice and run it out to the hinge. You can use a tie strap to hold it place on hinge. My works fine and looks a heck of a lot better.

Rob, that engine compartment is LOOKIN GOOD! Now all you need is a battery cover to complete the look.

I took off the modesty cover, cleaned it with soap and water, then dried it. Went and got yellow spray paint from Wal-Mart (auto department...just happened mine's the kind designed for use in engines) and red paint pen and clearcoat. Sprayed a whole bunch of layers onto the modesty cover so it was a smooth yellow (this being after I messed up once). I let it dry, then used a paint pen to trace over the letters in red. Once the yellow paint had cured 5 days, I did the clearcoat over just the red lettering to make it glossy.

I know of 2 ways to do the painting on the intake manifold.

Underneath the intake manifold is another plastic piece that says "DOHC 16 VALVE". If I can get my car together again, I'll take it to the shop and get them to help me remove the intake manifold so I can paint that piece red with yellow lettering.

RN,
If you go to the trouble of taking off the manifold, throw in some double platinum plugs, they are well worth the little extra money as they smoothed out the engine and took away the sluggishness when I stepped on it from the get go.
