Passenger Armrest

I have a 2001 with a left (driver)armrest but none on the right side. I purchased my PT from a private party. Parts & Service at Valley Chrysler said that the factory told them...that even tho there is a plate covering a potential slot for an armrest...the seat doesn't have the support strength to take any pressure. Supposedly they also can't match my interior gray color for my VIN # (which indicates color code) and that makes no sense to me. Has anyone had any experience ADDING a passenger armrest? Rick

Welcome aboard rick! I just put one on my '01 LE about a month ago. I use it all the time with the 5 spd. It's a bit a hassle taking the seat out and all, but it's worth it! Like CREWZIN said, go with the PTDIY instructions. One addition though, if you've got an LE and use the trip odometer, when you disconnect the battery, the trip mileage reading goes to zero.

I added the JJ Products wide armrest (http://www.autotrucktoys.com/stores/...ID=322&CATID=2) to my car and it was a simple installation. Remove the bolt currently in the driver’s armrest, then replace the OEM armrest with the jj products armrest, then simple screw the bolt back in. I even received the correct torx bit with the armrest when I ordered it.

I think its great and people finally stopped asking where there armrest was

Thanks for the tip. I have an 'Airbag'on the right seat on my '01 LE, do you? I wonder if that's going to be a hassle.

I just installed mine yesterday. A perfect fit with minor complications. I didn't have a certain tool and just took it to my homie at the stereo shop. I bought mine from PTandFriends at Cruiserfest. $125.00 complete set up no other parts needed.
