I read somewhere that when starting a turbo you should wait a few seconds before pulling out and when stopping you should wait a few seconds again before cutting the motor. No more pulling off right after starting and no more jumping out with the motor barely finished turning. What about it?

Any car should not be cold started and just take off down the road without letting it run for aminute or so, as far as shutting it off, a turbo does not like to be turned off at above idle, in other words when you're ready to turn the car off, you just need to let the engine come down to idle, its really no big deal compared to the HUGE gains y'all get with the turbo....be cool, James

Just to expand a bit, generally with a turbo you want to make sure the oil pressure comes up before driving off (a lot depends on where you live and time of year) and that should only take less than a minute or so. Before shutting down, let the car idle for a bit to allow the turbo to wind down, to prevent the oil from coking (if you use regular oil)in the turbo bearings from the heat and extends bearing life (lack of oil and a spinning turbo is not very good). Recent turbo designs keep the oil pressure up for a time to prevent many of the drawbacks of turbo ownership, but a few precautions do help for the long term.
