Default Air Conditioner Compressor

A/C stopped working two days ago (Florida!).. Wife took to dealer today.. Requires new compressor.. Compressor due in tomorrow or Monday.. Under warranty.. Have had PT since July 19, 2000.. Power steering pump replaced at 3,000 miles.. Radiator at 12,000 miles (wife hit deer and bottom plastic supports broke).. PT has 18,300 miles on it now... Very happy with PT, but also happy don't have to pay for compressor, whatever it will cost....

PT7,
Feel for you. This is probably the worst (hottest)week of the year that the air-conditioner stopped working for you. As for your other problems, hope you took the extended warranty...sounds like your gonna be using it. Don't know where you are in Florida, but I guess you won't be coming to the big PT bash in Mt. Dora this Saturday. It's gonna be a hot one, but hopefully the thundershowers will hold off until late in the day. Keep smile'in and keep cruisin.

Since dealer had not called as of yet that compressor was in, I called the dealer.. My wife had it wrong.. It is the condenser that needs replaced.. Since the condenser is in front of the radiator (I think), I wonder if wife hitting deer and radiator being replaced are connected to condenser damage... To make a long story short: dealer said their work was backed up for several days, and it would be a 1 1/2 day job. Since we are from out of town, and wife will wait for condenser to be replaced, I asked if he had a place for my wife to stay over night. After a couple attempts at humorous remarks he said that it will be done first thing in the morning, and work will take 2 1/2 hours.. Interesting.. Story developing... And yes, living in Florida without a/c has altered our lifestyle: we complete swimming and activities requiring our PT prior to 9 A.M. Have observed that driving with rear windows down helps air flow, but stopping at red lights is a sweater...

Being in the body repair field and knowing the front of the PT pretty good, I'd say there is a very good chance that its from the deer hit, it probly has cause a slite break in a joint in the tubes on the condenser and slowly leaked off the 134, it can happen, be cool,James

Condenser was replaced this morning as promised in less than two hours. Cost: $850. (covered under warranty). We did not quiz any connection between wife hitting deer and possible condenser damage... Cold air! Yes!
