Okay guys, I guess you all might think I sold out but I traded in My beautiful Black PT Cruiser known as the SS. After spending over $5000 in upgrades I still was not getting the performance I wanted, the little PT was too slow. I then thought about getting a GT but when I test drove it I didn't think it was up to par for $26,000 eventhough it was a great improvment over the non-turbo. I was looking for a sports machine under $30,000 that actually had a pair of balls. After test driving numerous cars I chose the meanest one of them all. I went with a 2003 Subaru WRX, it came with 227hp Horizontally opposed 4cyl turbocharged boxer engine, AWD, Carbon Fiber interior and 0-60 in 5.4 sec....yes 5.4! Since then I invested about $4,000 and raised my HP to 365 and 1/4mi in 11.5sec, know thats fast! It handles like it's on rails (thank the AWD)and the craftmanship is superb. I smoked a new TransAM the first day I bought it, know I can smoke ZO6's like they are standing still, ofcourse only at the track to be safe. I loved my PT but I think I out grew it too fast, I'll probably out grow this one too...hope not though, too much fun. My wife will probably end up killing me before I get bored of this one. If you are looking for a PT, the dealer (Southern Subaru in Waldorf Maryland) still has it, from the vented rotors to the Corbeau Racing seats it's your's if you want it, just take care of her (he). Oh yeah did I mention the WRX only ran me about $26,000 fully loaded (no leather, it comes with racing seats). Well slam me or praise me but I thought I should share some info with you guys, oh yeah my WRX is awesome!

I am a car nut and I love my PT more than the Corvettes,RX7,Mustang GT,3000GT,and many other cars I have owned.I can appreciate a car like the WRX,I think it is a hot car, maybe would even look at it if I didn't love my PT so much. SS Cruiser, have fun with it and Good Luck....

Thanks guys for being so understanding, your right the PT looks awesome and the WRX is not the best looking car but after all, I'm only 23 (I bought it for my 23 Bday, my wife almost killed me) and the sound of that turbo just makes my blood pump. I wish I could of kept the PT for my wife but 3 car payments would of killed me.
Thanks, SSCRUISER |

Ahh, 23, that explains it You'll find that by the time you double your current age, that the speed isn't quite as important, still fun, but not worth trading a PT for. Just try and keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down and enjoy the ride.

Thats right....I have droven many cars in my short life, Im 28, I have droven all sort of cars, Jettas, Golf, Mazda, Stratus, Hyundai, Voyagers, Nissan, Neon, Seat, Beetle, and none of them are so fun to drive as my PT. It has the unique look no other car has, it spacy, but not huge as a mini van, which I dont need. It has very good quality to price relation. And know Im getting a GT!!...so that completes it a 215 HP!which I think is a fair good horsepower where our very jammed streets (Mexico City) you cannot go faster than 25 mph, but you have reserve horses for the highway, I have driven my current PT up to 106 mph (no modifications at all!!), no problem, no hassling, no shaking and just cant wait to have even more!!
I just cant wait for the GT to come out here!! Mexico's PT Cruiser |

Just curious, why would you give up a classy PT for a Ricer?

SSCruiser, I can relate to your "need for speed"; Been there & done that when I was your age. Today I'm into class & cool style. The PT does it for me. If I had any more power I would be in big trouble (again). Enjoy but be safe!

How can I trade the PT for a Ricer? I understand what you mean, but you have to understand that the WRX is not a Honda or Toyota. The engine is a Boxer engine, the same engine that Porshe uses..this engine was actually design for planes. It's Horizontally opposed and the engine fires in a 1-3, 2-4 order. This engine gives the car more stability and balance which improves handling. The AWD system out performes the AUDI Quatro system and after all, who's the WORLD RALLEY CHAMPION. Cosmetics are very nice and the car is complete quality, in stock form you can't even hear the engine from inside the cabin, no road noise what so ever, the doors close with a gentle nudge and the chasis is as firm as they come. Combine all that with a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds ( faster than the Porsche 911 non turbo 5.5 sec)and the Road holding of a AWD system and you have a very High Performance car. I'll post a pic of the WRX soon, it's being modified again....Body Kit, Katzkin leather interior, TurboXS stage 4 kit with over 375hp. Talk to you soon.
The owner formely known as SSCruiser. |
