What does the PT in pt cruiser stand for? No one around here seems to know! (Kind of embarrassing when a 5 yr. old asked me in front of a bunch of folks I was showing my new cruiser to!) LOL Faked it and said "personal touring"! Need to know the REAL one now! LMAO

Autoweek had an article that explained: The "P" platform that the Neon was built on was also used for the Cruiser (why "P" I don't know). The Cruiser was designated as "Tall" structure on the "P" platform so hense "PT"..and on the assembly line is was designated "PT", BUT, someone at DC came up with the "Personal Transportation" handle and Chrysler adopted it and used it in there advertizing.
As quoted from the 2000 Chrysler catalog: "The PT is for Personal Transportation because it reflects the PT Cruiser's flexibility and versatility for each individual owner."

Thanks for the news! Can't believe my makeup name was so close to the real thing.... in fact... kinda' like mine better than theirs! Still, will use the real thing next time I'm asked. May even give them the whole story so they think I'm really intelligent! LOL
