Hi, new owner of a 2003 Touring Edition here.
In transitioning from my old car (Geo Storm) to the new Cruiser, I'm trying to find places to store stuff without cluttering up the storage spaces (e.g. trunk organizers). Do any of you have any advice on: -- The best place to store/carry a cell phone? (I have a Motorola flip phone). I don't necessarily want to mess up my dash by sticking on an adhesive cradle. -- The best place to stash jumper cables? (The recess on the driver's side of the cargo area?) -- A trash bag? (There's no ashtray to stick garbage in -- and since the back seats tumble forward and hook to the front seats' backs, a bag on the back of the front seat isn't a good idea.) Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Congratulations DPBJD, glad to hear you made the transition. Here's a few suggestions that might work for you. (1) My cell phone sits in a cradle inside the glove box..out of sight and easy to reach. (2) You may want to consider purchasing a set of "mini" jumper cables. I have a pair and they work just fine..actually had to use them (jumping another car). I purchased mine at Wal-Mart (cheaper than some specialty shops/catalogs). The cables also fit nicely into that recess area you mentioned. (3) Garbage!!! You must mean trash? Sorry, no suggestions there...I'm a neat freak when it comes to my PT.
Good luck. |

Your phone may fit in the side spaces in back cup holder. If you don't plug it in to charge in the PT. It is still easy reach without looking. Trash you could keep a small baggie in the drivers door pocket and just roll the baggie closed until you get home for the night and dump it... Mini jumper cables are a must maybe they could be tucked in the space with the jack. just check to see that you can get them back out first.. I can't remember how deep that space is with the jack..

If you don't anticipate using the cables often, you can place them completely out of the way. Lower the spare tire, wrap them around the inside of the wheel, and raise the tire back up. I made a small fabric litter bag (6"x8") put it on the vertical part of the center console just forward of the passenger seat. It's attached with velcro for easy emptying.
