Default Looking for info

hey all, just joined the forum, mainly I'm here to find out what you all think of your Cruisers, how long have you had yours, how many miles on it and have you had any problems? Would you buy another one?
My wife and I started looking at them over the weekend, we test drove a turbo GT model (electric blue) and a standard model. Seems I can get the turbo GT for dealer invoice which was right at $22,400 basically.
Anyway we both liked the car but I was wanting to see what others thought of their Cruisers......
Thanks in Advance

Hey Taz.....for the most part mine has been great its about 14 months old and 7300 miles, haven't had anything done to it, one recall which was no big deal, there fun cars, I think the longer you have it the more you see that its a pretty complete package, car, truck, mini van, sports car (the GT) all in one, think about it, what other car for 22,500.00 can do all the things that a PT can do?...I can't think of one at all AND, you get all of us for free !!...there are PT shows, get togethers, meets everywere across the US all the time and alot of PTs show up and we have a really good time, its a hard one to pass up!

be cool, James

Thanks James for posting your experience....I agree totally with you, the car seems very versatile, I was really pretty impressed with it. I've thought they were cool cars since they first came out and always check them out when out on the road. As far as PT clubs and such, we have a pretty big PT Cruiser club here in jacksonville FL called First Coast PT Cruisers, I've seen them at a couple of local car/motorcycle shows that I've entered my bike in, they always have a pretty large turnout.
Anyway, thanks again and hopefully I'll end up buying a PT and spending some time here...later

I ordered one when they first came out and waited 10 months. We have made so many new friends through the P.T.C.C.
Have a great week.

I fell in love with the cruiser in 2000...but had to buy an XTerra. Waited two years, and got my Dreamer in September. Loved every mile since.

Taz, check out the "FRONT LICENSE PLATE" topic and let your dealer know before you sign the papers. Until it goes through dealer prep, there are no holes in the front bumper. PT is a good all around package and a solid car. Also the things you can do to it are about limitless. I got my wife a base model (blank canvas) and have performed about 30 mods to it but at a Cruiser meet it still passes as a wallflower. I guess it is too subtle.

2001 Limited automatic delivered 04/13/01. 22,000+ miles. Only service so far is 3000-4000 mile oil changes and tire rotations every 6000-8000 miles. Gas mileage average over the period owned is 21.2 MPG mostly urban commuting - 19 city only to 25 on road trips.

If I bought one today I'd get the GT. While the 150 HP in mine is enough most of the time, it gets a bit sluggish when fully load with passengers and luggage, though no worse than previous cars I've owned.

It's by far the most fun car I've ever owned with the most versatile interior space. It will indeed carry an 8 ft ladder inside. I bought one the other day. The guy wanted to know where my truck was to carry it home. I said, "Just stick it in my little cruiser".

It's also great if you ever have to carry the grandparents around due to the ease of entry and exit from the vehicle. They used to have to almost be lifted out of my previous Honda Accord. Now they just step in and out!

All that being said, I really bought it for the styling. It's not a "me too" little car. There is still nothing else like it. I like the way it looks - it makes me smile! And even with 471,000 odd PT's running around the world now, I still get asked about it by folks who say "I love your car. I've been thinking of getting one. How do you like it?" Well, let me say, I like it just fine!

Puck

P.S. We got 4-6" of snow last night with a coating of ice. The PT mushed into work this morning - no sweat!
