Hey everybody, first off Merry Christmas....Secondly, I just got done washing my wifes PT, I washed and waxed it last week using Mcquires car wash and Mequires gold wax...now this week I wash it and I have spots on the paint (not real bad but some) and soap scum on the windows, I tried using windex to clean the windows and got some of the scum but theres still some left.
Whats the best stuff to use for washing the car, that might not leave soap residue, also what does everyone here use to clean their windows after washing...Windex? ![]() |

I have a similar problem with water spots after washing. I must towel the car off immediately after washing or calcium from my well water will leave spots. I also have the spots on the windows and the mirrors. Any suggestions out there?

Greetings and happy holidays/ I just bought a 2003 Turbo Gt 5-speed. PLus I'm a professional Auto Detailer, Happy to help out, First topic Windows>through out the windex. The best solution for perfect windows is the best kept auto detailing secret around (and the easiest/cheapest as well.) put denatured alcohol mixed with distilled water in a spray bottle/ 10 to 1 ratio/ (10 being the water)use a micro-fiber towel and you won't believe how clean your windows will get. You also should put a sealer on them like rain-x or auto magic #70 to ensure they will stay cleaner longer. AS far as your water spots, the well water you wash your car with? If you have am option to use public water, which is softer, I would do that. Well water with heavy minerals can do damage long term. If you are washing with hard water you will need to use a heavier soap to break down the spots, (perhaps a paint cleaner) then wash off a small section at a time and dry. You can and should also use a synthetic finish opposed to a wax. 5 months compared to 1-2 months. I can talk for hours about this, but I hope this helped out some. turbomangt/ oh. one more tip, it's ok to buy heap car wash soap, but don't go cheap on the wax/sealer
