Default Need creative help

I posted this on the interior section, however since I posted I got some bad news. (plus more people read this section) I have clothe seats and I already picked out a fabric that I was going to replace the inserts on front and rear seats.Color match to inferno red/ Along with that I wanted to do the four door panels located under inside door handles, you know what I mean, mine matches the same boring grey on the seats. anyway I went to my custom shop to find out how much to order and pointed out that I wanted to do the doors as well. he says to me IMPOSSIBLE/ WHAT? I said, those doors are molded, and he tells me/ these inserts do NOT pop out, I left really upset and bummed out, I called my dealer to see if this guy was right, sure enough, the parts guy had the Cruiser door up on his screen and varified its one piece. Any creative people out there to give me ideas, I'm all ears/ Thanks turbomangt@hotmail.com

You could try visiting a few bettr custom or regular body shops.
See if any would share some insight on how they would handle same.
You may be surprised on what they have to tell you.

Lets hear back on what you come up with.

Are you talking about the cloth part of the door trim panel? If so it will come off, but it is sold with the door trim panel, but it can be removed, of course, its not simple, its plastic welded on, its not so much getting it off, its getting it back on.

I have a friend who painted the door panels. I don't care for it but it can be done.

I apologize in advance if this get long winded. The door panels aren't that hard, just somewhat involved. Taking the panel off, don't let it drop. The door handle is attached to the panel. Reach behind and release the rod going to the latch. There are melted tabs holding the arm rest and the smaller panel is melted to the next panel at the rectangle-looking spots. Cut back of tabs releasing the arm rest. Come in between the next two panels with a wood chisel and pop loose at rectangles. Cover the small panel with whatever you wish and glue (super weather adhesive) back in place. I weighted it down overnight using encyclopedias. Knowledge is heavy! The tabs on the armrests are hollow so they were reinstalled using metal screws and very thin flat washers. I left a reply under "interior" before I knew you were here also.

Turbo, I forgot to ask. When you pull your panels will you take the pieces to your upholster or do them yourself? If the latter, is your material vinyl or cloth?

2SB and follow Cruisers/ I just ordered the material from my interior shop/ I need 5 yards to do the 4 seats (inserets) plus the door panels, I printed your description of how those "molded" panels come off, and they were aware of how it worked. The material cost $150.00 install will be $600/ I got prices from two other shops anywhere from $1200 - $1800 so I think I got the right deal/ also shop came highly qualified/ The material is almost like a burlap I would say, red, its really close to inferno red. I will post when finished, I'm really excited about it/ turbomangt....thanks 2BS for your help!

I just read your E-mail from the 29th. My wife brought it up because I don't know how to E-mail. I tried to read one last night and today my daughter called and said that I had erased some of hers! This is probably a mute point now but I did the seat inserts on an old Sears Kenmore sewing machine. Tell your shop you want all of the leftover material and the original seat inserts back. They're good for making litter bags and stuff.
