Default brakes

I have had my cruiser for a little over 1 year or 20,000 miles and I just had to do a break job. they tell me I also need to replace the rotars next break job. I have owned several new cars and this is the first time I have ever had to do a break job before 50,000 miles. What's up????

Hi Beth, Unfortunately the PT Cruiser like serveral new cars out there have thin cheap rotors (save weight and pennies). I had a 1999 Alero that GM finally fessed up about and replaced the rotors under warranty (23K on the car). SUVs are really bad, my 1996 Jimmy needed a brake job and rotors at 22k. Not only is it a quality problem but the ABS we have all grown used to is part of the problem. Factor in the that most of the weight is in the front end compounds the problem as well. So next brake job will come at 40k, right? Not to bad. Sorry got wordy on this. I hope I answered your question. Note: not an expert here just stating from experience.

Cruise on!

You're kidding, right? Who did the job? Chrysler? They pay. No way does a car like this need brakes that soon. What did they charge for it? Go to the DC Regional Office and speak up.
