hello all, i will be changing the rims on my wifes 02 pt to the 17" gt rims, now heres the question the stock rims look like hubcaps do they just pop off are do i have to loosin the lug looking bolts on the wheel covers or are they fake??

Bob< I think those are fake bolts like caps that screw off, then the real lug nuts are behind that. however since I have a GT they are different. I have similar cars like that and that's how they work. Do you have a mechanic that you change your oil with and stuff near by, take it to him and let him check it out. while your there rotate the tires!! turbomangt

Bob, if your wife's car is a base model it probably has the steel wheels with hubcaps, the owner's manual should say how to remove them. If it's a Touring or Limited, then it has either painted cast aluminum or chrome wheels with the heads of the lug nuts visible. Hope this helps.

Bob, there have been a lot of complaints about taking off the hubcaps on Base Model wheels. Evidently they don't come off easily. Several have reported that they broke the plastic hubcap in the process. Hopefully your removal will be easier. I'm late for work this morning. I'll research it for you this evening (no Internet at work) and get back to you.
