I'm not really preaching "extruded" but it's underrated. I've had no problems with the extrusion and if you don't like it, rip it off and spend $400. Use DIY PT's advice for removing exterior door guards (heat gun/hair dryer). It's all 3M RedLiner tape. Most grille extrusions are 3/8" half-round. I used a 5/16" L-shaped door guard material, cost under $20. I chose this one because it's more subtle and wraps around the leading edge making it look less add-on and preventing dirt and water from coming under it. However in bright sunlight, it doesn't photograph well.

2sb, do you know where I might purchase the L-shaped extruded you mentioned?
basset, in your first photo it looks like you just ran over somebody. If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised. (unless you cruised somewhere else) |

Jeff, you got me in a tight spot. I bought it from my very understanding sister-in-law who has a wholesale only business. However here's the www.trim-gard.com. They can give you a dealer near you or you may try a good local paint/body supply store. Now I'll complicate your choices. The 5/16" L is #NE01 with either a 50' or 150' afterwards. If you want more show, there is a 3/8" L at #PTC01 with either 30' or 250'. This is recommended in the catalog for PT beltline trim. I also used the 5/16 in a loop around the side glass (also hard to see in pics). Finally, #CVM01 is a 1 1/2" all chrome strip in 20' or 50' lengths. This was used for bumper inserts and rocker panel trim. Just recently they came out with a SEALIT pen which is for sealing cut ends and is UV resistant.

About the pic that looks like someone got ran over it looks to be like Basset Hound's Basset Hound sitting behind the Basset Hound's right rear tire, probably looking for a cool spot to kick it on a hot day at a PT event.

2sb, thanks for the info. Do you have pics of your car so I can see the wider chrome grill look?
strange, I think you got good eyes for seeing that was a dog. If you haven't cruised Maryland, you haven't cruised. (unless you cruised somewhere else) |

The grill here is 5/16 L. Go to the T-G .com place and under "New Products" they have PT Beltline trim which is the 3/8L.

2sb,
I like the looks of the wheel arch molding and rocker panel trim, who's is it? BTW - In the top photo, isn't that "blower" to the left of your PT a little big to fit under the hood? LOL. Thanks John & Terry 2002 Inferno Red Touring Edition |
