Most PT owners are truly excited about their cars. It is a real love affair. You can leave it stock or make whatever you heart (and pocketbook) desires. Few cars bring out the emotion of our PT's.
Read through the forums and I think you will be running for the nearest Chrysler dealer to join in the fun. To answer your questions: Major likes: Almost everything Dislikes: The automatic (especially on the GT) doesn't win any fuel mileage contests and the turning circle is terrible for a 14' long car. Loves: YES!! Got it home and started modifications to personalize it almost immediately. IT IS A BLAST TO DRIVE!! 2003 Almond GT AutoStick, body colored rear splash guards and hood struts, chrome gear shift, AC, and vent knobs. |

Agree with Michael. I have loved this car since I brought it home. Seems like I order stuff for it every week so I have something to add on over the weekend. My GT is Inferno Red and a 5 speed and it is a blast to drive. Come join us!
Inferno Red GT, chrome wheels, chrome AMP fuel door, chrome side spears, PT Cruiser 3rd light diffuser, silencers removed from airbox...ain't this car fun?!?!? |

Obviously, if you come here, we're going to tell you how great the car is, because who would frequent a place like this but us? If you like the car and some others (I considered the RAV4 and CRV) go to a dealership and test drive all three - no obligations. Then see which one you love the best, and compare independent sources (like Road and Track, etc.) - there is another post with a lot of independent praise on the new GT. You might also consider price comparisons - I think you can get some GREAT deals on the PT Cruiser now, mine was MSRP of $25,975 and I got it for $21,727 including rebate. GOOD LUCK!

Welcome to the forum. Think my GT is one great car which is FUN TO DRIVE! It could get better gas mileage, but, I didn't buy the car to get great MPG. IMHO you won't regret buying a PT Cruiser.

I got the PT because of the styling, but I've been very impressed with the tightness and fit of the body. I went the base model route and added to because I knew my wife would want this and that... and more of these while you're at it. If you test drive several cars, notice the seating position too. In the PT you're more upright and get better visibility.

I just bought an '03 PT Turbo yesterday (3/26) and I'm totally in love! This is my first new car ever, and it just begs to be driven!
I wanted to get a car that could get out of its own way, and I also wanted unique styling as well as headroom for my 6 foot self. The attention to detail is amazing, you can feel the love that went into the GT's design. The power and handling is excellent! I drove around all last night, and it was raining here, but I felt like I was driving on dry pavement. With this car I can stop on a dime and give 9 cents change. I took mine up the steepest roads in my area and I felt no lack of power whatsoever (this is my biggest complaint with my Mazda Protege). I was barely tapping on the gas pedal and it was just cruising along like I was on a flat road. I'm telling you, this car has totally impressed me and it's all mine. I can't wait to get out of work in 3.5 hours so I can go tooling around! |
