First off, welcome to the PT Cruiser community! It is always nice to see someone who loves this unique car as much as we do! As for the ashtray, I would have to say that Chrysler wants your 20.00 bucks too. If you compare the new PT’s to the 01’s they have cut ton’s of stuff off here is a list to name a few things:
cheap non-retractable side view mirrors
No rear cargo net
No passenger door keyhole
Unlighted rear window switches
No rear stabilizer bar, they will tell you it's internal, we cut one in two and I can tell ya it is BS.
Cheap chrome plated plastic hub caps
Took out a horn
Replaced the adjustable head rests with non-adjustable ones

sbcruzn...I don't think Chrysler's optional "smoker's package" is worth them paying ME the $25.00! An ashtray down at the cupholder stinks! (Ash's blow into the lovely coin holder, can't be easily reached by passenger, etc.) I've been seriously looking at the dash and the idea of taking a saws all to an area higher up and putting in a REAL ashtray from a junkyard car! ! !

glad you're now "one of us"
only prob i have with smoking in the pt is i value my seats way too much (leather too) and it STINKS. besides, if you pull over to have a smoke you just add to the visual appeal of your cruiser by standing beside it.. [|)]

The only locking feature available is Chrysler's locking gas cap. I would have preferred an inside release on the gas cap door like many others cars have.
