Has anyone seen a picture of the new Cruiser Convertable, with the top up? If so, would love to see what it looks like and hear opinions.

From Autonet.CA

Playing on themes of its popular PT Cruiser, DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler division has come up with a convertible Cruiser.

"The PT Cruiser Convertible is a natural," said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President - Product Design. "In the same tradition as the Chrysler GT Cruiser and PT Panel Cruiser styling studies, this vehicle shows yet another personality for PT Cruiser. Once again, we want to demonstrate the tremendous potential of PT Cruiser."

Chrysler said its designers lowered the header and roof, and resculpted the rear wheel flares, to give the PT Cruiser convertible "a new personality." The convertible features a new rear quarter panel to accommodate its longer doors, and exterior, body-coloured bumpers and a chromed-accented grille have been added to reinforce its customized look, the automaker said. Also, the vehicle was lowered by 1.5 inches (38 mm).

The debut version of the Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible is finished in a Deep-Shadow-Blue Pearl paint, and the interior features a dark taupe and light pearl beige colour scheme with cognac and body-colour blue accents.

The PT Cruiser convertible seats four passengers with theatre-style seating, and the rear passengers sit higher than the front passengers do.

According to Chrysler, the vast majority of changes have been cosmetic only, such as the power-operated top, but no powertrain changes have been made to the vehicle.

"Many will say the Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible is two vehicles in one," said Creed. "It has a certain modern look when the top is down, with its sport bar and long passenger compartment. Yet when up, the top has a slammed-forward retro-position, much like a '30s custom chopped coupe, emulating the tension of an archer's bow being drawn back. Lower, sleeker with even more attitude, the PT Cruiser Convertible styling study is the latest example of the sort of fun we can have with PT Cruiser. And there's more to come."
