Default any rumors on next gen PT?

ive read lots of rumors regarding the next gen PT on allpar.com and other good sites, like platform sharing with a new mitsubishi platform and supposedly around 2006. I also heard that they are debating whether to even continue making the PT.
I also read a small note on rapidcraft.com that they saw IT and that there were things they liked and disliked about the new one.

has anyone else heard anything about the next PT?

From all that I have read the PTC will be updated for the 2006 model year. [|)]

Only thing I read recently was confirmation that the 2005 model year will include a convertible in auto only - NA and turbo. Supposed to come to market in spring, 2004 I think. It is a two-door.

Just got off the phone with my dealer (the one I ordered my GT from--still awaiting delivery in a couple weeks). Says they confirmed what many of us already believed: In 2004 a cheaper turbo model is on the way.
Apparently, the 180hp turbo engine will slot between the "base" cruiser and the GT Turbo models and be offered in the Touring and Limited models. Pricing will fall between the two top & bottom models as well.
In other news, the only other significant change he could point to was a new two-tone paint scheme.

And by the way TURBOMANGT, there's nothing wrong with having BOTH a '69 Road Runner (convertible) AND a PT GT!

Well, that should work for all the "old ladies/old men" in the crowd who want the added power but not lots of it, and also want the softer touring suspension. The fact that it's lower horsepower makes me wonder whether this 180hp engine will be a quickie "bolt on" solution, just adding a turbo to the base engine, as opposed to the current turbo with the beefed-up block and intake manifold among other things. Does Chrysler have a 180hp turbo engine in any other model already in production?

As for me, I'll keep my GT!

hey thats a good question? i havent heard chrysler with a 180 turbo configuration. it does sound like waht dodge did with some of the R/Ts a year ago. or special edition 300M. maybe some fine tuning here and there an exhaust headers....

...rumor is that the 180 hp Cruiser will just be a turbo added to the original basic 2.4 engine with out all the extra engineering the 215 hp GT gets...
