Default Beach Boys at Jekyll Island, GA - June 28th

The Beach Boys will appear in a Beach Concert on Saturday, June 28th.

This is the "Summer Beach Party on Jekyll Island"; Jekyll Island, GA

Tickets are available through the Jekyll Island Welcome center (1-877-453-5955) or online at www.HighTideConcerts.com .

Tickets purchased through the Welcome Center are retained for pick-up, on or before the day of the concert. The web site wasn't set up for ticket sales when I purchased tickets a few weeks back. Perhaps they are accepting orders now.

The show is slated to last from 12 noon to 6pm. The Beach Boys Band web site indicates they will start playing at 3 pm. They will have another show at Hilton Head SC at 8 pm.

Their past shows I have seen last around an hour to 1 1/2 hours. There should be opening and possibly closing acts, but I haven't found out any info or who it may be.

New personel include John Cowsill, who replaced Phillip Bardowell.

Mike Love and Bruce Johnston are the only original members.

Adrian Baker is still handling the high harmony and falsetto (being Brian), John Cowsill is the main lead vocal who will be propping up Mike Love until the final minutes of the show. Chris Farmer will also be a main backing vocal.

All in all, the show should be well worth seeing. The band that backs Mike and Bruce is very accomplished in both instruments and vocals. It is hard to imagine the sound could survive nearly 40 years, but you can close your eyes and get chill bumps. There are 6 other band members beside Mike and Bruce, and they manage to capture everything that can be produced live. It should be a good show.

Now for the standard disclaimers from the concert flyer: No Coolers Permitted - Alcohol Must Be Purchased On Site - Ample Parking - Concert Held Rain or Shine - No Refunds...

Tickets are "$25.00 (plus taxes and handling charges". This is a fancy way of saying that the tickets will cost $30.00 before you get them in your hand. All in all, a bargain, as tickets for their show in Atlanta, GA the night before (inside show) are being scalped for between $200.00 in the nose-bleed seats to over $1200.00 for the ones that you don't need a telescope for...
