Default Front tint beware

I tinted my front windows about 4 months ago. While cleaning the car over the weekend I notice a circular mark on the top middle section of my glass. I felt it with my finer nail, it was scratched. I wondered how that could of happened. Then I looked at the other window. same mark, same place. I took the door panel off, and to my suprise, their is a section of the regulator that when the window is all the way down, is right up against the glass. Not a problem if its plain glass. BIG problem if its tinted. I can't do anything about it unless I remove the tint. I guess I can live with it, but I wanted to warn anyone before they tinted them, this is what you will face.

turbomangt,
Since you looked in the door panel, can something be placed over what the glass rubs on? Maybe those self stick felt pads you put on the underside of nic-nacks, etc. The felt will let the glass slide without scratching. Just a thought to prevent further damage.

Gary,

That regulator must be different (or less pressure on the windows) on some PT's. I've had the front windows tinted for almost three years now and there's no sign of any damage from the regualtor. Now, being in Florida I would say that my windows are all the way UP about 90% of the time with the air-conditioning going. It's possible that I would have those marks if the windows were DOWN more often.

Thanks for the Info. I've been about to tint my front
windows since March.

Sometimes it's good to procrastinate.

Mine are tinted to 35%, MD limit. No marks that I can see after three months.

I talked to a guy at the tint shop about your worn tint. He guarantees his work and has tinted over 50 PTs. Not a single one of them has returned with that complaint.

Is it possible that only the 03s have this problem?

What so you think?

Don't know, put they are definately scratched in a round circular mark size of a dime, both windows exactly the same place. The dealer opened the panel and said their is a button sitting right where the mark is.

you can notice this also when your windows get really dirty/dusty. I always thought it was the rollers that guide the windows up and down. Because on another pt i've seen slight lines up the middles of the window. Ususally 2 parallel lines up-right slanted slightly towards the rear of the car.
