Windshield Cracked

Yesterday, I pulled my 2003 PT Cruiser up into a driveway and park. Within 5 minutes I went back to leave again and the windshield, about a foot from the edge of the drivers windshield pillar, has a vertical crack in it going up about 4 inches from the bottom, then turning almost horizontal and continuing about a 10 inches across. This happened with no one around the car. There is no sign of a chip.

Anyone had this happen before? I have had lots of chips and breaks before in other auto windshields but I could always find a sign of a rock hitting it. Is this a stress crack? If it is, is it covered by the warranty (the car is about 10 months old and has 9,000 miles on it). There are no other chips, dings or marks on the glass, just the crack.

Don't quote me but I read almost all the posts everyday and if it started at the pillar it is a stress crack. I wish I had more time to look into this for you but I am at work. Try the old search method and see if that brings anything up.

If there are no marks it is a stress crack and would be covered by your warranty
