Yes, sound is very subjective IMHO. Too my ears the Magnaflow is not loud--you can hear your stereo with the moon-roof open without distraction from the exhaust tone. Plus, the resonator keeps the exhaust sound toned down inside the car. To the best of my knowledge, you cannot put other tips on the system--but, I'm not sure. Don't know if Magnaflow makes "duals"--you need to check out the Magnaflow website. Better yet, go to a "PT Meet" and look at/listen to various exhaust systems.

I will tell you this, if you run the gears through at low RPM's, and keep the rev under 3000, it sounds like any other PT. But when you get on it? WOW baby, move over , Hear I come.
That's OK with me. Sounds kinda like what happened when i took out my air silencers on the intake. low rpm's you cant tell but if you punch it you can hear the difference. exhaust would be even better Sounds like a really good system. It's VERY popular in the forums.

SciFi, I have a 2002 cruiser, you're saying that if I get a Borla that I won't get that drone?

As long as you don't hit the ~3-4000 rpm range. You probably won't notice anything until you pass 70-75 mph. Read the cat-back exhaust reviews here: http://www.carreview.com/Exhaust/Cat...S_1580crx.aspx

BTG is one of the louder systems out there, along with Bassini's minus the baffle inserts. PT Turbos with any of the mentioned systems will sound a lot quieter. IMHO, turbo equipped PT's would put out less sound even if they had straight pipes (no muffler), like the SRT-4, after the cat.

Whatever you decide on, your PT will not sound like a ricer. N/A PT's have a nice deep throaty sound for a 4 cylinder.

PT Tuning told me you can take out the inner resonator champers for kicks> I'm afraid to try this> THAT would be too loud. My 2 cents. Gary

Thanks to feedback from Gary03GT, I ebay'd a MagnaFlow last night. It ships today.

My approach is not so much the perfect sound, but risk management. With 38k and salty roads, it's just a matter of time. And when it finally rots out and starts in your ear in the middle of winter, CarX-at-10:00AM-tomorrow becomes the "choice".

I haven't really herd of MagnaFlow until recently. I decided on it because of stainless construction (most important), resonator, polished finish, and price... I paid roughly half of what Mario was asking .

When I install it next week I'll comment here as well as my original thread http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...?TOPIC_ID=2978

IMHO, any exhaust system (unless you're running straight pipes) will be much quieter on a turbo car than on any N/A car.... So, an exhaust that your hear on an N/A car will be MUCH quieter on a turbo car. As long as the cat back has all of the components: Cat, Rez, Muffler; there will be no "loud" issues.
Personally i have straights on mine....Love the sound...plus this way i don't need to put in a second horn

Stephen R.,
I'm interested in what you think of the Magnaflow once you get it installed and have a chance to drive it. Tell me if you notice any "drone."

One other thing...for anyone to answer....I don't really have the means to install this myself....would the place that installs it be able to cut out the area on the right side for duals? I'm afraid I might mess it up. Any suggestions on that?

I have a cutomized duo exhaust system on my 2001 PT Cruiser limited. It has only resonators on it. No real mufflers. It makes a nice 'groowl' sound.
The only thing wrong with it is the twin exhaust pipes stick out about 4" past the bumper and my wife recently gave herself a bad second degree burn on her shin.
