ok installing my boost guage came with a compression fitting, looks like this two peice brass part, with a small brass (ball) inside with a hole in it.

I have a 1/8" nylon hose that fits into this brass compression fitting, how the heck does this work, it doesn't hold the hose, etc...

When you tighten the fitting it compresses the ferrule (ball with hole)to grip the tubing. Only tighten it about 1/2 to 3/4 turn after it is finger tight or it will damage the ferrule and the tubing. Hope this helps.

am i supposed to be able to fit the hose through the ferrule?

P.S. If the ferrule has been compressed once it can't be reused. You should be able to get a replacement at a hardware store if this happens.

If everything is the right size, yes. Is the hose semi-rigid?
