Yes Gary, I too am speaking of the sunroof molding. It is textured and has a hardish finish although you can dig your fingernail into it. ALL of the molding is graying out (and has some wax in it too). I think the bottomline is this is low quality plastic that will need to be redyed.
Gary, what are those dyes (not coatings) you can just paint on with a brush? |

I just went out in my garage and checked and the easiest way to do it is to open the sunroof. That way the rubber comes down and slides back leaving the rubber out of the way to put the sealer right into the opening where there is no rubber nor any chance of getting any on it. I think this solves it.

I removed mine (two sided tape ) and painted then the same as the car.
and that's the way it is.

I am talking about the 12" black strips at the rear on the roof from the rear door to the rear hatch, I guess we all are thinking pts and typing with two fingers I do.

I cleaned my sunroof window trim today with simple green and a toothbrush. It looked OK. Then, I tried some rubbing alcohol and it came out even better. After that, I dressed it with Gary's dressing.
The results are still not what I want. This trim is made out of a different material than all the windows. It is a hard rubber material that does not hold the dressing well. The result is that it still looks gray compared to all the other trim. I'll keep trying different things until I find something that gets this trim BLACK. I know there are others with the same problem. Together maybe we can come up with a better cure. |

I use a Motorcycle product called Silicone clean, from MOTUL. It is used for the black, textured areas in the motorcycles including plastics. It restores it to the original color. It works great and it is safe for all materials. I use it in my bikes liberaly with no problems. I used it in the PT and it looks great. All you have to do after aplying it, is wipe off the excess from the paint and done.
