amx1397, I have State Farm also and they told me the same thing. My 1975 XLCH Harley Sportster is insured with them. I've invested a good bit of money in this bike and had no problem insuring it for what it would cost to replace the bike with all my mods. All I had to do was take the bike by my agents office, they took a couple of pics and advised me to keep all reciepts. Of course my premiums reflect the amount of insurance coverage I have on the bike.

Same would hold true on mods for auto, if you have very expensive mods get additional coverage, insurance will only pay for replacement of orginal parts unless you have the additional coverage.

This was posted today on the [u]PTCC Forum</u>:

Well I got my "OFFICAL LETTER" today. You are never going to guess when the policy will be canceled. Aug 2, 2004.

Well at least that buys me some time to find a new Company.

I have Hartford Insurance thru AARP. They had the best rates of anyone around...and believe me, I got quotes from a dozen different places. They know about my mods and the only thing they told me is that I can't use the car to race or for any kind of business...other than that I'm fully insured. Sounds like that Farm Bureau need to get their collective heads out of their A$$.

They will also raise your rate for any little thing. I have not has an accident or ticket in 20 years. I backed in to a low overhang in my garage, it cost them about $750 and me a $500 deductable and then they raised my rate by $300 per year.

Well, in Ontario, any new policy (wehicle change etc...) you must bring your vehicle to a shop where they video the front, rear, sides, angine bay, interior etc... they also take a picture of the vins, and note any aftermarket add ons, stero, rims etc....

this is how they find out who has mods etc...

When I was 16 I ran into some woman. Small hit, nothing big. But she sued my dad for $500k.

My insurance for the next few years was $6k a year

USAA is one great company--it is usually rated in the "top three" by [u]Consumers Reports</u>. I have been with them for all my insurance needs for the past 35 years--no complaints, just praise and appreciation for the fine service I've received from them. [^]
