They will also raise your rate for any little thing. I have not has an accident or ticket in 20 years. I backed in to a low overhang in my garage, it cost them about $750 and me a $500 deductable and then they raised my rate by $300 per year.
You lost the claim-free discount that pretty much all carriers have (especially homeowner's insurance). Small claims will cost you dearly in the end.

Basically, these types of insurances are for major catastrophic incidents. I would never claim anything less than $10K on my home, or $5K on my car. The crummy part is that the max allowable deductibles, respectively, are $2K and $1K.

You only have to pay once for an "incident", you pay for insurance continually, so it is best to keep the premiums as low as possible.

well I had State farm for 18 years and after my wife had here licence suspended here in PA. for a non driving thing, nothing to do with speeding or anything like that ,they state farm dropped her like a hot potato. They wanted me to sign an exclusinery form that she would not drive any vehicles that I own. Now granted with state farm we were paying 345.00 for our 2002 zx2 escort per 6 monthes and 408.00 for my 2003 GT . well since i had to go shopping for insurance I started to look around and I looked at geiko(sp) and then I stumbled onto progressive on the web ,they had no problem insuring my wife and we told them that she had the suspension and the total premium for 6 monthes with the same coverages except 100.00 deductable on comp was 410.00 per 6 monthes. So now since I had only 1 car with state farm I lost the multicar discount and since they had a rate increase at state farm(the rat bast**ds they raised my premium to 555.00 for 6 monthes ,now I'm pissed and I called progressive they not only insured my car but for the same coverage as I had at state farm except the 100.00 deductable on comp my premiem is 333.00 for 6 monthes on my gt and sice I carry the 100.00 collision deductable Im entitled to 1000.00 coverage on performance parts and I bought 1000.00 more coverage on performance parts so i have 2000.00 in coverage on after market parts and you can buy more if you want.
plus I got the multicar discount now which lowered wifes car to 354.00.State farm are worse than the stealers we bought our cars from . You owe it to your self to compare rates if you are with state farm they will bleed you to death and progressive will sell you performance coverage so my total premium for 2 cars for 6 monthes is 687.00 which is about 137.00 nore than State farm wanted for just my GT. just my 2 cents sorry for the rant but do some comparitive shopping you might be amazed.......

The following post recently appeared on the [u]PTCC Forum</u> and should be of interest to Cruiser owners who make modifications to their cars:

Hello,
My name is Risse Zimmerman and my husband and I are the owners of Performance Trenz in Wichita. Yesterday my husband and I received a call from our Farm Bureau Insurance Company tell us that the Underwriters had dropped our insurance on our cars for the following reasons: I AM NOT KIDDING…

1) We have NOS Systems in our cars
2) We show our “DAILY DRIVERS” at car show
3) We have graphics on our cars

So what they were telling us we could not add anything to our car for any reason.
We can’t even meet with other fellow (same as) car owners. That would be viewed as a car show… What makes me mad, the adjuster that told on us, on his own free will, attended a PT Cruiser event that we put on.
We contacted the Kansas Insurance Commissioner. The person we talk to said that there was NOTHING in the LAW about NOS Systems.

SO BEWARE…

Pass this on… Post this on all the forums that you know of. This is bull and should be stopped.

Risse

Wonder if I should be concerned that my insurance may be cancelled because the painted-flames on my GT "might cause a car fire"?!!!
In all honesty, Farm Bureau has always been *very* picky about what and who they insure, but this is cause for alarm.

I'm going to see what I can do about making SEMA aware of this.

Gary - Can you find out about any contact information for this person that I may be able to pass along to SEMA if needed?

I have been experiencing problems getting extra coverage on one of my PT's that is converted to a panel wagon. My State Farm agent said his underwriters would not insure it for the extra coverage I wanted. I called numerous insurance companies USAA will only insure you if you are currently in the military, GEIKO and PEMCO will not insure. I called most the companies that insure street rods or exotics and was told my PT was too NEW it needs to be 19 years old. AARP (Hartford) would only insure if I insured the other two vehicles I have plus my homeowners and I found they were several hundred dollars higher for my other two and wanted a lot of money for the conversion PT. It is really frustrating when you want to pay for the extra coverage and no one will take you. If you don't tell your agent you have extra modifications when you do have an accident they won't cover it. My insurance record is clean also, no tickets, no accidents and we are both over 50. So I'm very intersted in finding out how some of you have gotten the additional coverage on your PT or not.

I have Farm Bureau insurance too. The only thing different is my branch can give 2 ****s about what I do to my Cruiser. I will have to pay extra to get the mods covered but, I dont have major mods done yet but they will cover it. I guess it varies from branch to branch.

VAVROOM, check out this site. These guys have agents in the WA. This is what they say on their site:

Custom Parts or Equipment Coverage: This coverage is available if you’ve added a unique feature to your vehicle, such as custom wheels, a special paint job, or equipment for assisting the disabled.

http://www.unigard.com/product/pl/coverage.asp

Don't know why State Farm will not give you the coverage. I have State Farm on my autos and my Harley. After rebuilding my 1975 Harley XLCH Sporster I rode it to my insurance agent's and asked for $20,000.00 in coverage. No problem, they checked it over, took some photos and wrote the policy.

I have USAA on my PT and my truck. I've never had a problem with them at all. been thinking of switching my insurance to NC Farm Bureau because my homeowners insurance is with them (it was $100 cheaper to go with them instead of USAA). When i called my agent to get an estimate, they said that i couldn't get car insurance because i still carry my MD driver's licence (I'm AD USAF)! they would only insure NC drivers!! I might have to call them again and ask about the mod thing because i'm thinking on doing some work on my PT.

I finally got a another call from my State Farm agent and they are going to insure my panel PT. It was a hassle for a while and took almost a month, but he said they were going to put the extra coverage on I asked for and actually quoted me a decent price.
