Default What's a "rollpan"?

Is this just a fancy new word for the rear bumper, like "quarter panel" replaced the word "fender," or is it something different that I don't completely understand.

If it's different, please 'splain to me the difference?

Basically, you are correct, the rollpan replaces your factory bumper, giving your ride a shaved rear-bumper.

quarter panel replaced fender because the older cars had a fender on each corner that could be removed, with uni-body its well a quarter of the car that needs to be replaced....

That's my understanding, too. Kinda like if you removed the rear bumper and smoothed the area out.

Everyone forgot to mention one little thing to CrazyJoe. If you get hit in the rear with the rollpan vice the rear bumper...there's almost direct access to the gas tank. Another thing that just came to mind....what if you do get hit in the rear, not enough to hit the tank but rear end and hatch are pretty crunched up, if the insurance adjuster comes out for an estimate and sees that you have taken off the rear bumper, will they still pay for your claim?

Hi - This is Barb at PTeazer. First off - the roll pan comes with a steel chromoly strut to replace the existing crush bumper. We have not had an issue with the gas tank being involved - the steel seems to hold. There is the issue with the hatch however. We've had a couple that have had damage to the hatch when they were rear-ended by SUVs. We do our own installs as well as insurance repair work in our body shop. If you need more info, please give us a call or email. Thanks.

Thanks for that update Barb. As far as the hatch damage from an SUV...is ANY normal car/truck safe from severe damage when being hit by one of those monsters?? [:I]
