The wifey wants to take the PT to the track this coming spring/summer. I don't have the foggiest idea on how to go about this[:I]

Yes, be thankful she is interested in what you like. I wish I had those problems. (when the 2nd to last light goes off, the foot goes DOWN. !!!

Just about the same thing happened to me the first time I took my wife to a National NHRA event with the Top Fuel cars (Nitromethane). Now it's "we MUST buy tickets" or it's "you buy the tickets, I'll pay for the motel". I guess that's why she's my kind of woman!!!

Yes is more of less like that but there are some minor things you should now.
Most of the time, you show up when there are "test runs" days. You pay and then go to the inspection area. There, they will give you some forms for you to fill and sign (most of the time they are disclamers) once this is done, they will post a number in your car (Shoe Polish in the glass, make sure you take it off that night!) Now it is time to go to the staging line, there you wait and see other cars, just follow them to the tree. once at the starting line, you go little by little until you get the "Pre-Stage" lights on (first pair of lights at the top of the tree) Now it is the time to make sure you have your car ready to run, have the windows closed including the sunroof, also you have to have the AC off or you will drop water on the trak.. also the the other racer will "pre-stage". at this time, you move forward to get the "Staged" lights on (Second set of lights) at this point is all automatic... Don't wait for the green light or you will have a horrible "reaction time". Start the pass once you see the last yellow light turn on. Run the car as hard as possible, don't let go of the accelerator until you have cleared the "information board". Many people would let go of the gas before the end of the pass thinking it is done... Follow the exit signs and in one point, there will be a track official giving out the time slips. You have made your first pass!!! Read the slip and compare it with what you just did and adjust to improve. At this point, you are officialy hooked with drag strip fever!!! Enjoy, Ian

Couple of other points...if your runnin below 13.0 some tracks require that the driver where a helmet, actually some tracks state that all drivers where helmets and if your REALLY fast, special speed/safety equipment is needed.
