Spinoff from the Age Thread....

Hey guys,

Since we have such a wide age range of PT owners on this site, I thought it might be neat if anyone wanted to share with us what car they were driving back in the day. A "When I was your age...." kind of thing.

So right now, I think the youngest on the Age post was about 18. I was thinking about what i was driving when I was 18, and it was nothing like I have now. A 1990 piece0of-crap Dodge Shadow. But it was my first car, and I will always love it for that reason!

So what were you all driving when you were 18????

My first car, I was 16 at the time, was a 1962 Chevy Nova, followed by a 1967 350ci Nova, '72 Chevy Vega, '67 427ci/435hp Corvette, 78 Chey Camaro, 78 Honda Civic, '72 350ci Corvette (which I still have), '86 Cougar, '83 Jeep CJ-7 w/350ci/425hp Chevy motor and now my 2002 PT Limited.

My first car was a '53 Chevy Bel-Aire, balck with a white top. That was in 1960 when I first got it. Paid $500 for it. [^]

IRPT, i see you listed the cars you have owned....should i do the same?

To follow up on IRPT's list, I've only had 1 car in between my Dodge Shadow and my PT. It was a 99 VW Jetta. 4 cylinder, 122 horsepower. I still remember the day I turned that in and drove away in my 225 hp PT Turbo. WHOA!!!!!!!

Sure, why not! As you can tell from my list I'm primarily a Chevy person. I loved the Honda Civic that I had, it was set up for driving, mostly Jackson Racing parts. Hated the Cougar, too closely related to Ford. Loved the Jeep, but of course I had to put a Chevy engine in it. The PT is my first Chrysler and I'm absolutely in love with it!

I tend to keep a vehicle for 5 years or longer, at times having as many as 3. My first Vette I had for 10yrs, big mistake selling that one. My present Vette I've had for over 20 years and counting.

My first car was a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Esprite "Redbird", 305 ci V-8 with honeycomb wheels and spoiler. I loved that car! I got many an "interesting" date in that car! If those seats could talk, I would be in some big trouble!

At 18 I had a 1950 Ford Convertible and paid about $200 for it. [8D]


Then, there was my "most fun" convertible--a used 1959 Chevy Corvette (rebuilt V-8 engine/3-speed stick) for which I paid $1500. [^]

1st car...'57 Chevy Bel-Aire 283; Powerglide Automatic. Bought for $50 replaced motor mounts and sold for $500. Did not drive when I owned it. Wish I had it now.

2nd car...'63 volkswagon

fastest: '68 Corvette Convert. 327/350 hp; close ratio 4 speed.

Most recent: 1996 Ford Probe and 1995 Ford Windstar

Car I am looking for now: '67 Chevelle SS 396 w/ 4 speed manual/Hurst shifter.

Since i am newest to forum but probley oldest in age my car at 18 was a1953 Ford in 1959 that had lake pipes just like my P T some things never change.
