I'm new to the forum. I could not see where to post this so I'm posting in General. I hope that is okay.
My 2003 Cruiser makes a whistling (beeping) noise at 72-75 miles per hour but not at any other speed. The local dealership basically refuses to drive it over the speed limit and says that I must contact Chrysler. Has anybody else heard of this problem? The noise seems to come from the instrument cluster, but it could be from the windshield. I say that because I once had a Honda Accord which made a loud foghorn noise above 70mph and the dealer immediately knew that the cure was to remove and replace the windshield surround. The PT sound is over a very narrow range of speed, and is wheel speed related (not engine speed). It is not real loud, although it is very annoying when cruising. My high-frequency hearing is not that great, so I don't think I'm being particularly "picky". Otherwise, I just love the car. Steve |

Welcome to the forum shschampion. Do you have a moon roof? I've heard a whistling noise before and could not figure out where it was coming from until I checked to ensure that my moon roof was completely closed, it wasn't. It was open just a hair, once closed, no more whistling noise.

Thanks for the welcome, IRPT.
Yes I thought about the roof, but it was not that. It is not so much an air noise anyway, if you know what I mean. More of an electronic beep kinda noise. I'll sing it for you... beeeeeeeep :-) Not earsplittling loud, just VERY annoying. |

Welcome to the forum. I might be coming from the fresh air intake that is on the passengers side under the hood cowl. I heard if you buy the filtration system ($16) and install, it might lessen the noise.

Welcome to the Forums, shschampion. All I can suggest is basic diagnostic techniques.
1) try to find conditions under which noise occurs so you can always reproduce it (so you'll know when it's gone). 2) vary something and see if you still get noise - suggestions - move where the wipers rest - especially the driver's side, tape over windshield base - all to see if it's wind noise. Good luck & let us know.

I know exactly what you mean. My 2004 Turbo happens right at 70 - 71 MPH. Since it only happens at that certain road speed, I think it might be coming from the speedometer. My dealer said the same thing.
