Default Ignition Question

Many times I've been at the gas station, and I've wanted to roll the windows down with the key in the accessory position (back towards the driver). Problem is, the windows don't work in this position. If this a 2003 decontenting thing, or does other Pt'ers out there have the same problem?

I've been to the DC dealer, and other cars' windows work when in this position....what gives?!?! Especially how you're supposed to leave the key in the off position when fueling....it gets kinda hard to open the window when the guy comes to ask what grade fuel! [}]

I just checked to verify I didn't have oldtimers - they work with the key in the "ON" position, one click below "START". I shut car off, turn key to "ON", lower window, click to "OFF" when getting gas. Or, you can re-wire.

You guys use FULL service up north?? [:I] Last time I was up there, the FULL service pumps were at least $25 per gallon higher than SELF SERVE!

We're allowed to get our own gas here in CT. It's Jersey that doesn't allow you to pump gas.
