Everyone,

1) Concerning QuiksilverDon's comment about running 36 PSI in the tires... the recommended PSI is 34 all around. Do you think that the additional 2 PSI makes a significant difference?

2) I just switched tires from Goodyear Eagle HP to BFG Traction TA. I've noticed that my gas mileage has dropped a little. Any chance the computer will "learn" this difference, or should I look elsewhere?

1) No - my point was that the vast majority of cars on the road are running underinflated tires, and that wastes gas. I can feel the car being sluggish when pressure has dropped to around 30-31 PSI. When I picked up my PT new from the dealer, tires had 25-28 PSI - that'd make a difference you'd notice in MPG.

2) Don't think it's computer related. My hunch is that the Good-for-a-Years were worn & brand new tires present more rolling resistance. Bet it disappears (MPG drop, that is) in a while.

Actually, the Goodyears were in good shape - for Goodyears, that is. See my other post, "Tire recommendations.. a happy ending". I like the BFG's much better. They feel and handle better and got rid of the tire pull I was getting from the Goodyears.

I've actually lost almost 2 mpg since putting on my new wheels and tires. I was getting right at 19 mpg around town, with stock wheels/tires, with new wheels/tires I'm getting 17mpg. New wheels/tires are wider and heavier than stock wheel/tire combo.

My factory tires say 38 PSI; is there a better pressure in which to run?

Factory recommendations for tire pressures are:

N/A PT - 34psi
GT PT - 38psi
