Someone has given you bad advice. the windshield you are talking about are only on cars with heated windshields. I have a 02 Limited I have had E-Z Pass for over a year stuck on the inside of my windshield. I have had no problem
Same here, we've got EZ Pass on our '01 and '02 Cruisers and both have worked fine since day 1. Somebody at EZ-Pass is screwy - and you're not the first person who was told that a windshield mount wouldn't work! [:I]

Hooligan,

Don't you mean the SunPass? I have the little white SunPass box that's supposed to be mounted on the windshield on either side of the rearview mirror but I use it on three different cars (depending on which I'm driving on the Turnpike) so I just carry it along and hold it up to the glass as I pass thru. Hasn't let me down yet.
No, we have a E-Pass, which can be used as a SunPass. They finally got it together, so we can use it over on the West Coast. We use ours mainly in the Orlando area, Can use either pass.[^]

[8)]All of you are correct - I have a 2003 GT and it has a small area around the mirror that blocks the pass or tag little white box - just mount it to the left og the mirror or put it up tith stick tape and trit it - but get rid og the black license plate transponder... Here in Virginia around DC - people steal then since your frount plate is only held on with a few screws it comes off very easy

The only reason for placement behind the mirror, from what I was told here in TX, was if a vehicle's windshield is too vertical. The reader cannot hit the transmitter fast enough, for some reason, if it's too the left side. I had to move mine on my Wrangler to behind the mirror. That's why you'll see a lot of SUV's with it centered.

And if you hold it up, rather than having it mounted, in TX, you get a ticket.

Snittykitty,
We have a 02 PT and have the windshield mounted EZ Pass transponder.
Works fine here in PA also in NJ, NY and DE have not had an occasion to use it in MD yet. The PT does NOT have the metallic windshields requiring the use of an exterior mounted transponder
Painted the backside of it flat black so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

I have a smart tag and an ez pass - I just hold it up when I go through the booths... If you want mount the velcro tape up on the left side of the window - and take it down when not using - but you can not mount it behind the mirror - OH yes take that big black transponder back and get the little white one... When the shiped me one they ship the black unit that mounts by the frount plate
Same here. Mine is an '02 Touring, but there were no windshield options of Touring vs Limited for '02. I keep the white tag (about 4" square) in the "cubby" below the radio, reach for it when I need it. Have used it for 2+ years that way.

Hehehe, anything I put in there flies out.

Same with the "Pencil catapault".

I would glue it to the plate and get locking bolts for the plate, available at Advance Auto. They are Allen heads with a key in the middle and come with the wrench.
