Default PTDIY is back up now...

...and requires a paid subscription now. 18 bucks a year.

I can understand the bandwidth issues but it just seems a bit wrong that they want to charge for guides other people spent their time making for anyone that needed it.

My Favorites folder just got a little lighter.

I AGREE!! Unless all those PTers that submitted info were PAID for their submissions, those "guides" and "how-tos" should STILL BE FREE! If they want to pay for any NEW info they receive and then charge a subscription fee for the NEW stuff, that would be fine by me. Just my 2 cents.

I also agree. I sent in a guide & don't like that it's being charged for. I can see recovering costs, but at $18 @ seems costs will quickly be recovered.

Not really fair to those that submitted info. Maybe offer a free subscription to all whose info is used. There are still some free areas.

You should get royalty payments or some kind of insertion fee Don. That's the way it usually works for freelance writers.

I was hoping at least the ECM trouble codes would be listed in the free section..but a search came up with "No Matches".

I submitted how I installed my M3 mirrors and spend alot of time taking pictures of them. Wheres my reimbursement? That does kind of piss me off. I have printed out most of what I already needed, how ever I still need more, I have to pay? I really don't like the sound of that.

Though 18 bucks sounds reasonable, I could give it a good, for free.

I undestand your complaints about the owner submitted mods, but have you seen the 600 other pages of information, plus over 900 tech questions in the library?

There are less than 100 owner submitted mods. Most of the site is tech stuff that Ed compiled over 3 years of paying for the bandwidth out of his own pocket and giving it away for free.
I can't imagine how much he has spent over 3 years online!

I'm satisfied with $17, instead of $39 for other places that don't give nearly the information available on diy.

Thanks for opening are closed and foggy eyes MX-5. I did not realise what was all on there and I consitrated on what I need at the time and didn't have enough time to look it all over.

I appreciate the owner submitted mods and guides, but I agree with MX-5. There is a ton of info there and Ed has contributed more time and $$$ than most of us realize. You get way more than you pay for IMHO.
