Welcome to the forum, bstrips79. [^] NO problems here. I'm careful not to ride behind gravel trucks and other vehicles that are potential "windshield chip risks"! [:0]

bstrips79 welcome to the forum. I've had the same problem, my windshield has many tiny chips in it. This is a common problem.

Nothing will prevent that from happening if you get a rock flying into your windshield. But it sure can't hurt to polish and seal your glass just you would do your finish. By putting some kind of sacrificial barrier to take the hit, it might not do the damage as it would without it. check out the detailing section for more feedback and tips on this and many other subjects. WalMart (& others) have windshield epoxy kits - like $10 & $20 - get the more expensive one. The stuff is invisible. When dry, remove excess with a razor blade. I did the 2 deepest ones and am pleased.

bstrips79 welcome to forum.I have not had a problem with mine,
but I'm careful who I ride behind. My wife's Cruiser does have
little chips in hers, but she just drives. She don't care where
she parks at walmart either and it shows[:I]This time of year
there is all kind of gravel and other things all over the road.
If you do a lot of highway travel on two lane highway it's
going to happen. I put a hood bra on hers and it did help a
little.Happy Cruisen[^]

I've noticed that autos over the last 15 years or so have soft glass in them. I never use to get pitted glass like I do now on all my last few cars. We use a lot of sand on the road here in Montana and it just sand blasts the windows. But only the last 10 or 15 years has it become very noticable. In one year on a new car you can see the pitting.
They have definatly changed the glass.

Your change-in-the-glass theory closely corresponds with my sand to rocks theory. It seems to me that over the last 20 years or so here in CT that we've gone from mostly sand to mostly small rocks on our winter highways. It does help to keep a little extra distance from the car (or truck) in front, but it's the ones that go by in the opposite direction that seem to nail me.
