I was only quoting what I had read in the paper Saturday morning. [:I]

When I bought my used '02, I had the dealer run a history for me. The fuel pump recall HAD been completed prior to my purchase.

I can certainly understand being the "man in the middle" between DCX and the customer; at dealer level.

However, having said that, I put zero/zilch/none/nada credibility in the claim that DCX will let you know when a potential safety factor affects your DCX product. Historically, that is a bogus claim, and there have been deaths and near deaths to back that up. Currently, the media is also looking into a Durango front-end component that seems to be failing pre-maturely and has already pointed out DCX's past batting record of putting bottom line ahead of safety. Case in point is the missing/deleted/AWOL rear sway bar. I have never understood the concept of increasing engine output and weakening stability at the same time.

I have empathy with the local dealer and employees, but I wouldn't libel myself by using DCX and anything that alludes to honesty or integrity in the same sentence.

Your mileage may vary........

i'm not saying that there are not a few things that should bee recalled all i am saying is if there is a recall they WILL send you a notice if your car is one of the cars covered buy the recall. if your car is not covered to bad for you nothing can be done.

This is the info I got:

http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosins...utos-97446.htm

I haven't heard anything about a "recall". I think they exaggerated the issue. It's hard to imagine that folks would recommend this car for it's reliability and versatility on minute, than have that same car recalled the next minute. Something's not right, here.

Recalls: The law is specific, especially for safety issues.

As for the authoritative source: Try the DOT/NHTSA

(Just making this a Federal Case)

Rumor has it that it may be the "...power steering line loosened and sprayed fluid on the catalytic converter and then burned the fuel line..."

Just a rumor.

Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to check the fitting on the power steering unit, and also verify that the fuel line is away from the AC line, as part of a normal inspection.

Just a Word to the Wise.
