Default Advice on 03 Purchase ...............??

Hi all ( Great forum - Thanks for the info).

I have been searching for a car for my wife for some time and I am 95% percent sure that I am going to go with an used 03 PT ( 25000 KM ( 17000 mi).
I would have never thought of a PT until I had a rental a few months ago and was amazed at how much I enjoyed it.

Positives I like - Room, storage, styling, leg room ( I am 6'6"), ride, attitude, braking, reliability.
Negatives I have read about - Gas mileage, lack of Power ( no worries for my wife)- not much else in the way of negatives I have read about.

My question ?? Other than these concerns are there any other reacurring problems that I should be aware of or anything in particular I should look for? Based on my research PT owners are extremely happy with their purchase ...........
After a bad Intrepid experience I never thought I would look at Chrysler again but here I go again.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance !!
Doggie

I love mine.
If you want more power, you can now get touring and limited editions with turbo's. Rated at 180hp. Called turbo-lites here.
Or if you want to shell out, get a GT.

doggie62, welcome to the forum. The PT is a great car, if lack of power is your concern get the GT, you won't be disappointed!

Welcome Doggie 62.
The mileage isn't dismal, it's just not great.
Only thing I'd do is get the auto fluid changed w/filter with ATF 4 or 5, and watch for tranny leaks. There have been some solenoid pack troubles, but not prevalent.
Methinks your wife (and you) will love it.[?]

Welcome to the Forum doggie62 [^] . We bought a used '02 base, and love it. It is our ONLY vehicle, gas milage isn't the greatest, but we really do like the ride and "retro" look. The PT has a very great following, and it still gets a lot of "lookers" where ever we are. IF you do get one, first "mod" should be is hood struts from Blaines. All PT's should have them factory installed. I have found Blaines to be the best, he is easy to work with and they look great. My $.02 worth,,,.

I just got a 03 PT Touring with the 5 speed and I am loving it. Compared to my 03 Sonoma the gas mileage is killer and, for a four banger it has alot of ballz[?] I would suggest anybody to get a PT. Good luck and welcome!
