Default Advice

I need some advice please.
I just got my new PT and have a vibration that starts at 100 kilometres an hour on a smooth highway. It starts vibrating through the steering wheel at 100 then at 110 a rolling thrumming sound seems to start in the PT's body. The dealer refused to test it at anything over 90...because he said the highway outside the shop is rated at 80 max..he did re-balance all 4 tires and indicated one was suspect..then told me it was Goodyears problem. They told me to take it to a Goodyear dealer. Goodyear dealer said Chrysler mech balanced the tires badly and again re-balanced all 4 tires and stated car was smooth up to 100 klicks..damn the vibration is still there starting at 100KPH as I drive the 400 series hwys to work my hwy speed is always around 110. This is a brand new PT and I am starting to hate it.Please don't tell me all PT's do this.
I suspect a bad belt in one tire but both the dealer and Goodyear refuse to acknowledge a problem.
Any idea's please?

After 2 rebalancing jobs, it sounds like you have a bad tire. Might check the rims to be sure that they are straight just to be sure but my money would be on one or both front tires.

The vibration does take the fun out of driving doesn't it. You are much less likely to have a problem with better tires.

EDIT
You don't say how many kilometers you have on the car. I started with the vibration on my stock Grodyears at 14,000 miles. Started at about 110 Km/hr then got worse to the point that vibration would set in about 90 Km/hr. By that time the tread was almost gone anyway, so I replaced all four tires at 16,000 miles with Yokohoma's and haven't looked back.

I'd go above the service manager's head (owner, Chrysler service rep, etc)at the dealership and make a big stink about being passed back and forth by the dealership and Goodyear. I'd also threaten to go public like the newspaper or a local tv station and say this is how the customer gets treated by two large companies.

My suggestion is to rotate tires, all four wheels can't be bad. Also were tires balanced or speed balanced, could make a differnce.

beelsamin, welcome to the forum. The suggestions above are all good, give those a try. I would try rotating the tires first and see if the problem still exists.

Welcome Beelsamin.
Don't put up with it! Either a bad tire or bad balancing. I got new tires, had a vibration, went right back, and they rebalanced and vibration has been gone permanently.

It's not your job to determine whether it's a bad tire or bad balancing, your job is to make dealer understand it's unacceptable and get them to fix it!

Had one that drove me nuts. Just couldn't get rid of it. I made the mistake of Putting OEM ( Goodyear's ) tires on aftermarket wheels. They were balanced 5 times. Nothing worked, Goodyear wouldn't do anything. a friend put brake pads on for me. Didn't need them just sick of the dust. When he put the wheels back on he torques them and guess what vibration gone. I never thought that torqueing the wheels was that important but IT is.

Tell them to do a rim runout and a road force variance balance on all the tires. That checks the runout of the tire while riding down the roand and can pick up a imbalance in the tire itself instead of the whole assembly. Usually when something like that happens when I do the road force it comes out extremely off. They will have to replace 1 or more tires to get it to go away.
