Default painted mirrors

Went to the body shop to see about getting my mirrors
painted. The Guy said we tend to shy away painting the
mirrors on the Cruisers, because of the textured surfise.
they look good at first and than you get a rock chip or
something and they start to peel. How many have painted
their mirrors and have you had any trouble with peeling.
What kind of preb work was done before painting? How long
ago was the painting done?

That guy is full of it dude. He apparently is just another lazy bum who doesn't want to please the customers. Painting the mirrors on a pt is easy. You can lightly sand down that texture to be just as smooth as the paint. I would suggest going to another body shop and getting a quote. A good thing to remember is...paint will stick to anything and look good as long as it is prepped propperly.

Where I took mine, I think they told me they used a light "filler" to smooth the texture, then primed and painted. I've only had mine done a couple of months, but no problems so far.

This is the dealer where I bought the car, well their body
shop.He said he would do it.He said he would lightly sand
them down and put some adhessive prep and than paint. He
said it would cost 50 a mirror. He told me to ask people
that have had mirrors painted how they preped them, maybe there
is a better way.To be honest, around here, they don't do much
to their Cruisers except drive them.I can't wait to get
my flames on.So any help would be great.[^]I don't think he
is lazy,he just wants to do a good job ,because he knows how fussy
I am.

Mine have been done for about 5 months and no problems. They lightly sanded then preped and painted.

I got the samething from my local dealers bodyshop, he said that he'd paint them but couldn't garantee the work. This shop has done amazing work on my car in the past but wouldn't touch this.

Need them painted on the white, "wifes", cruiser. That would look good.

Mine have been painted for a year. They look so much better, and I haven't had one problem.
