Default Overhead compass and thermometer problems

Ever since our last cold snap, the thermometer in the upper console has been stuck on 2 degrees! The compass isn't very accurate, either. I have recalibrated the compass as outlined in the owners manual (push the button--drive in 3-360 degree circles) but nothing has changed. I figure that there's a sensor module somewhere that I could replace, but where might that be? It wouldn't be under the hood because the heat from the engine would affect it. Any ideas? I'd rather not take it to the dealer because it would cost $$$!
Help!

The sensor for the temp is below the hood latch, between the grill and radiator. You will see it when the hood is open.
I have no idea where the compass sending unit is.

Yup - temp sensor is a black knob, about size of a pencil eraser.

Compass???? [:I]

Guys,

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. Mine was also "stuck".

You can recalibrate the device yourself. It's in the manual, under "compass". You have to press and hold the selector button until for about 15 seconds until you get a "CAL" in the display. Once it has the calibration setting, you have to drive slowly (about 5MPH in 3 complete 360 degree circles.

Believe it or not, this will recalibrate the unit. I did this very early in the morning on my way to work. I live on the end of cul-de-sac, so I just had to pull out of my driveway and drive in circles.

I imagine if any of the neighbors happened to see me, they probably thought I lost it! But, who cares, it solved the problem. It's been fine since.

If after recalibrating your unit, it still gets "stuck", I would take it to the dealership.

Hope this helps!

This morning I was sitting in my Cruiser, engine running, waiting to pull into the service bay at the Chrysler dealer, when I noticed the overhead thermometer going up fast: 89, 90, 92, 94...100, 104, 107,...125 I turned the engine off!

When I restarted it to pull in I showed the service rep, and he watched it go sky high.

-A new sensor is now being ordered.
