Everybody wanted a ride in my car tonight!

So we had 60 or so sales reps fly in from all over the country to our national sales meeting, hosted here in sunny Southern California. We locals were expected to host various groups at different dining spots in the area tonight. So, we break into groups and a bunch of us pulled our cars up in front of the hotel. I get out of my BTG cat/back dual equipped (and thus mildly rumbling) PT Cruiser Turbo, and hear a rather excited group call out "I'm going with him!" while moving quickly toward my Cruiser. Suddenly they couldn't care less what restaurant we were headed to, they just wanted a ride in the PT! Too bad I could only accomodate 4 passengers.....I should have thought to auction off the seats!

The other choices? A VW Passat, Chrysler Pacifica, some midsized Volvo sedan, a Ford Expedition, Mercedes C Class, Lexus LS400 and a handful of rental cars. Yeah, so maybe the competition wasn't too stiff, but hey, the Cruiser garnered a lot of attention. Only real problem was having to drive rather sedately so people could follow me along unfamiliar roads. I did get a chance to show the power of Stage 1 a couple of times though, so that was cool.

I just think it's nice that even though the PT Cruiser has been around for as long as it has, people still get a kick out of the prospect of riding in one. Pretty cool.

That IS cool...and we DO own great cars!

I have a brother that has never been interested in hot rods or anything similar until he had his doors blown off (he was driving his wifes Honda sports-type) by a PT Turbo. He said he was accelerating around a freeway on ramp when a PT came up on his rear and hung with him up to 80 MPH as he merged. ONce on the freeway the Turbo blew by him, so he called me long distance that same night...wanted to know if he could ride in my Crusier when I come up to visit in May.

Tonight was night 2 of our national sales meeting, and at the end of a very long day we went to dinner at a New Orleans style cajun place at Downtown Disney, next door to Disneyland. I had to (cringe) valet part the PT, but in a way it was sort of cool to see it, and listen to it, rumble away from me.

I wanted to make it an early night (c'mon, 14 hours of meetings is plenty long in my book) so I offered to take some out of towners back to the hotel early. We get to the valet station and one of the guys, who didn't know what car I drove, notices this shiny PT being brought up and makes a nice positive comment about it. I tell him it's my car and he gives me the typical "no way!" Once again, the PT is the transportation hit of the evening!

I'm having more fun with this car every day, and am so glad I decided to basically impulse buy the thing! What a trip!
