Hey 03classic,

I'm new to the forum, but it sounds as though we were bitten by the same bug. I just picked up my new, unsold 2003 touring edition on March 30. I was shopping for a 'gently used' Cruiser when the dealer also offered me a new one at a price I couldn't refuse! It's light almond with taupe interior.

I'm also enjoying the same beautiful Canadian spring weather - - it's rained almost constantly since I picked the car up from the dealer which takes a little of the fun out of cruising. Here's to the weather shaping up!!
Lucretia, welcome to the forum. Your car sounds nice. Don't think I've seen a taupe interior as yet.
The weather finally cleared up here in Ontario this weekend. My oldest son was home for Easter and I had to take him back to Toronto last night, so I finally got to drive my PT Cruiser on the highway. All I can say is WOW. This thing is everything I hoped it would be and more. I've alway driven V8's up til now, but any concerns I had with it being underpowered for the highway are long gone.

Is it possible to buy a car in the great white north and then "import" it back to the us? If so, what do you have to do the vehicle to make it US spec? Is it as extensive as bringing a car from say germany?

Once upon a time, I was going to take a Corvette that I owned to Carlisle to sell. I contacted U.S. Customs and asked them what I would need to do to be able to legally sell the car in the U.S., knowing full well that it was manufactured in the U.S.
I was told that I would need to:
1. Obtain a letter from GM stating that the vehicle was manufactured to U.S. specifications
2. Have the speedometer/odometer changed to show MPH/Miles instead of KPH/Kilometers.
3. Take the vehicle to someplace in the U.S. and have it certified to say that it met U.S. emission requirements.

Ended up selling it in Canada since I didn't think it was worth the trouble to comply with all of the above.

Thanks for the welcome. As far as mods.... I ordered a factory rear spoiler before I had finalized the deal on the car. Had the dealer install it when I picked up the car. Since then I have just been reading a lot on the PT forums and looking at everyone elses mods, time will tell..............

Yeah, and the name is a way of combining two things I love. A hundred years or so ago, we all would have been talking about our horses.

Thanks. "Traveller" was Robert E. Lee's favorite horse. Powerful and courageous under fire, they stayed together until Lees death.
I did not know that - - my excuse being that I'm Canadian It is indeed an appropriate name for a Cruiser!! Are you a Civil War buff?

03classic,
Thanks for the welcome!
I really like the taupe interior with the lt. almond exterior.
The weather did shape up for the weekend, although it's snowing outside now!
I went over to Pt. Huron today and had a great time cruising on the highway [8D] It was truly a pleasure to drive and I didn't find myself getting restless as I often do in a long car ride. What a great car!]

Thanks for the welcome, ZZCruzr.
You're right - - this is the sweetest car I've ever owned [|)]
Lucretia is my nickname which was given to me by one of the docs at the hospital where I work. He was notoriously bad at names and for the longest time could only remember my real name started with 'L' so he started calling me Lucretia (not sure why that particular name). Anyway, it's kind of stuck with me since like it or not

Hooligan,

Yup, I live near London, ON and am in the bad habit of making the odd cross-border shopping trip Have also spent many, many vacations in MI. Sure wish I was in Florida now though - - haven't been there for about 3 years and the winters up here sure are long without the break. What area of Florida do you live in?
