GOOD NEWS HERE!
Texas recently passed a law making street racing a serious felony with serious jail time! Also, if you kill someone, "murder" becomes "capital murder" and you don't live through that sentence. ![]()

Timely thread. Here is an article from my local paper (Fredericksburg Free Lance Star from last week). This happened only a mile or so from where I live and we heard the sirens and the medevac chopper that night and knew it was something bad. 'Nuff said.
3 die in Stafford wreck Three Stafford men killed in high-speed crash; police suspect drag-racing. By KARI PUGH Date published: 3/27/2004 Police suspect drag-racing just before crash State police are investigating whether three young men killed in a high-speed crash in North Stafford might have been drag-racing moments before impact. A Stafford County deputy had just broadcast a lookout for two cars speeding along U.S. 1 near Telegraph Road late Thursday when a passer-by called 911 at 10:41 p.m., to report the gruesome wreck, police said. A 1997 Pontiac Firebird slammed into a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of northbound U.S. 1, then swerved into the guardrail, went airborne and landed in the trees, state police Sgt. Gary Settle said yesterday. The impact of the crash separated the engine from the car, he said. Both passengers, 20-year-old Shane Taylor and 23-year-old David R. Kessler, died instantly. Minutes before the crash, a deputy traveling south on U.S. 1 saw two cars speed past in the northbound lanes, according to police. They raced by so fast the deputy wasn't able to turn around and catch up. Instead, he issued a lookout to state and Prince William County police. The two cars appeared to be racing, police said. The wreck was Stafford's seventh fatal accident this year. On Nov. 8, two young men were killed when their Honda swerved out of control as they raced another car through Central Park in Fredericksburg. In that case, police said the driver was traveling at least 65 mph in a 25 mph zone. (NOTE: The last one references a road that runs through a major shopping center, and the crash actually took place just before a large movie theater where pedestrians are constantly crossing the road).

I have learned to "chill" when driving - there are CRAZIES out there behind some wheels. I let 'em go, and find my masculinity has remained intact.

This post was intended for those who are into street racing. Everybody knows the dangers of it. Everybody knows the dangers in Nascar racing, football, hockey, drag racing too. But, you dont here everybody saying all of the bad for that. So, if you are just going to post what bad you have heard/seen from it, dont bother, I wasnt looking for anybody to reply and especially about stuff we already knew.

I beat an Ford work van with the Econoline V8. He tried to overtake me from a one lane right hand turn as I was going. I was suprised that I had pulled ahead of him after taking off. It was in front of a bunch of traffic that had no more lanes to go around, so I really had to push it. One car in the right lane, that was there, could have gone around, but not with this stupid guy in the van going around like that.
I have an incedent on I-75 with some riced out Subaru WRX, like I had a chance in a N/A PT. He thought I wanted to race him. Later I passed him because he had a State trooper on his tail, suspected him of speeding, and he followed him till he made an exit. Only racing I do is from work to my girlfriends house, in all day rush hour traffic, 16 miles in 45 minutes. I guess thats not really racing. However Im glad to see someone in a PT show up some rice boys.

I have seen some bad accidents in real life too, and heard stories.
My neighbor told me about her son, 67 camaro, parking lot drag race, moved to avoid hitting a 3 yearold child and manslaughter, hit the embankment 8 ft wall, totaled car and now lives in a wheelchair. Check this thread out, most of the pics are from street racers. http://ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7077 Trying to impress your girl yo. How about this guy 17 with his girlfriend in the passenger seat. Glad they don't have to hear there parents lecures. You know what that white sheet is for. ![]() I like raceing as long as its safe and controlled. The problem with street racing, is just that, its street, rules don't apply to street anything. Like when you get in a street fight, what you going to do, use what you can to help yourself out. Just like street racing. I would watch what you race for, someday it could get worst then you think.

I believe in a street race, my rules, if I pull ahead of them and they have no chance of pulling up, then I win. After that they can take off like a bat out of hell and do what ever they want.
Like that van I mentioned, I pulled ahead of him about 10 car lenghts then I slowed down. It was from about 0-65-70 and lasted between 1-1/2 blocks .3 miles or so, then I slowed down. I really just wanted to see what the PT could do, it was back when it had about 8000 miles on it.
