I have seen right infront of my eyes what can happen street racing.
There is no rules in street racing. But, when I do street race, I will end the race without a victory. If the other driver starts doing stupid **** that is seriously bringing other cars into the race that do not need to be then I will back off. I enjoy winning and racing but not enough to watch someone drive stupid while trying to race and end up hurting someone or himself. I do race and its dangerous but, I do it with some sense. |

On the street even the best drivers, the most experienced drivers have no control over the environment. You may be the safest and most experienced 20 year old driver in the world but you have no control over the person up ahead who does not see you and suddenly makes a lane change or the individual at the next corner who is not paying attention and pulls out in front of you. But more importantly, you do not have control over the experience of the driver of the car you are racing. Doesn't help if you are an experienced driver and you enter a race with a complete idiot. The idiot crashes his car and kills himself or someone else.... YOU ARE AT FAULT! "Hey", you tell the police, "I'm an experienced, safe street racer. I had control of my car throughout the race. I even backed off because I saw this guy was an idiot". Doesn't matter, you are still an accomplice, you still contributed to the death or injury of an innocent person. I agree, street racing is fun but more importantly, it is stupid and illegal. You can not deny the fact that it is illegal, you can not deny the fact that innocent people have been killed or injured by stupid (and smart, experienced) street racers. Oh, BTW, IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE TRUTH DO NOT READ THIS POST! Grow up BlueBlurCruiser before you contribute to the death/injury of an innocent person.

So, BBC, what did you get for your big "win"?
There are no winners in a street race, eventually they all lose in one way or another, if that is the only kind of "fun" you know how to have I feel sorry for you. The word stupid can't even come close to describe three people racing in traffic, ignorant, blatant disregard for the safety of others is all to common these days. Maybe you, being the educated driver that you are, are worse than a person who has never taken a driving course, at least the uneducated can claim they didn't know high speed racing in traffic was dangerous. By the way, please don't take offense to this post, after all the negative feedback you are getting is not just aimed at you hurting someone else, but in fact can be seen as a group of people genuinely concerned for YOUR well being and mortality - that, my friend, is worth far more than any thrill you can get from an illegal street race.

Sure, no ****, its illegal. I'm sure back, way back, when you were young, you didnt do anything illegal. You were all perfect angels and obeyed whatever you were told. For a bunch of people to rant and rave about something they dont like and hate, you are spending alot of time talking about it. Last time I checked, my street racing never caused anybody to have to move, brake, or honk at me while doing it. I havent killed anybody, yes there are people who have, but, older people have been proven to be bad drivers too. Should I go on about that? If you dont like the post leave it alone. Your talking about me growing up but you are the "mature adults" who are whinning and bitching about this post over and over again. Next time I will post for "For those who like racing" that way you dont have to worry about reading something you dont like.

PianT,
I thank you for actually saying that you are trying to help. Everyone else is just complaining. You are the only one who has said that is his purpose. |

And you are correct when you made the point that many of us have done the same thing in our past. But the different is, we've been there, we have grown up and learned that it is not the right thing to do. We are simply trying to pass this information along. Many do not learn until it is too late! I will just ask you one question. How do you know that the person you are racing against is a good driver? That his car is mechanically fit for racing? That he hasn't been doing drugs or alcohol prior. That he isn't going to cause an accident. Do you believe that all these accidents from street racing are caused by people that believe they will be in an accident? No, none of them think it can happen to them... but it does happen. I know that nothing that anyone here has to say will change your mind. You are young and believe that you are in control of everything you do, nothing bad is going to happen to you. Hopefully you will not have to find out the hard way by causing or contributing to an accident that kills someones mother, father, son, daugther or best friend.

I know that I do not have full control of the vehicle. As you said, nobody does. As far as the other racer is concerned, you pick your races judging by the way the person acts while driving. If something does not seem right then you dont race. Yes, I am young and stupid and will openly admit that if I would have listen to my elders on things, life wouldve been easier at the time. I do thank all that are actually trying to help.I do not read inbetween the lines, when I see someone getting an attitude towards me and resulting to insulting me then I dont believe they are trying to help.

Agree with IRPT but as with every generation, things are repeated. All of us so called old timers (or at least I am pretty sure most of us) have done "illegal" things but thats what most of the younger generation does, experiment. I did things as well as my kids have done things. Thats part of growing up. You can only hope that one does their thing, pull through it without hurting others or themselves. People on this thread warning you of dangers, its only because we know you are young and just don't want to see anybody, young or old, screw up their life because of something stupid. And yes, the younger crowd (just as we did) think that nothing will happen to them. After saying all that, if first in line at a light, I'm gone. Upto the speed limit anyway and I am happy. Got there fast and loved the cruise getting there.

Like every other 20 year old, you are sure that a) you are always right and b) you are indestructible. Know what? We've all been there and done that and that's why very few of us are impressed.
