[|)]Welcome Frances. We could use a female opion, help balance things out. Maybe get insite into the female Psyche. But then again you don't sound like the avarage, em, excuse me said to much already. Hum, mid life hu. I didn't think women get that. I got that out of my system with a Jeep YJ and it was fun, but after awhile was like rideing in a stage coach. The PT is the lap of luxury especially the Limited. So many nice features. Cruise control, I'll set it at 30 mph. I've got the auto. I've always had a standard. I bet the standard does get better in gas miles. Gas is $2.45 a gallon for regular here. [B)] I used to race around now I just cruise.[8D]

Hello,
Am I not average because I drive a stick shift? Please explain!
I hope I shouldn't be offended...
Anyhow, this car fits me fine cause I'm short (or of average female height, by todays standards) !
My husband doesn't hit his head when he gets in, or when we hit a bump. He's glad about that. He's just over 6'
He tried to talk me out of this car "because I've read that only old people drive PT's" was his quote. "well, dear, I AM middle aged according to my mother and my grandmother's life span..."
My 3 kids fit in the back seat just fine. I have 2 teens and an elementary.
I also have a CD player which we are really thrilled about - see, it doesn't take much to amuse me.
I don't think I like the plastic grate in the front - seems to me I should be shopping for something metal - so that I'm not on the receiving end of terrible injury. Crash tests and the air bags were big selling points for the husband. Tell me not to worry...
The 'boys in the repair shop' were decidedly impressed that I knew how to drive a standard, why is this such a novelty? Yes, it took some searching to find a 5 speed.
Regular gasoline, 1.75 per gallon, but it could be different tomorrow morning.

NO malice intended. It's a good thing. My wife & I both gave up a standard, though she can drive one as well. I've always had a stick before because I always knew in a pinch, I could give the car a jump start. And I just don't think the automatic will last as long. But I'm geting soft. It's auto and cruise control for me. I'm 6'2 and the car fits. It has great features. I love the Limited. I've looked at the grill to and not to thrilled. Looks like it wouldn't take much to bust up. Don't think the cars for old people it's for people who like shape a style.
What's mid- life? I'm shooting on living forever.[8D] If you don't hold still they can't burry ya.

Hello.... I'm female and drive a 5 speed Inferno Red GT. I've talked about this before but I had the same reaction out of a sales person when I stated that I wanted a 5 speed and nothing else would do. He made me feel like I was an idiot for wanting a 5 speed and In RED. They we're trying to sell us a black one, no way!!! Another dealer we visited earlier that same day called us while we were sitting in the bad dealers office. They had searched the west coast for a 5 speed Inferno Red GT fully loaded and found one in Vegas. This was on a Sunday and we, or I should say I drove it home on Monday evening! Anyway you go girl! There are other females out there that drive Sticks. Been driving them since 1986. The only way to fly, huh?
Have A blast with your new ride, I am!! By the way I live in Arizona.

Welcome, Frances.

Here's what'd look great on your cool vanilla (mine's silver):
http://www.raceandstreet.com/display...html?uid=10111

It is easy to install, looks great, is well made out of heavy aluminum, needs no care, and really improves the looks of the front.

This is the first car I've had that I really "get into" and have modified. I have about 73,000 miles, and love it still.

You all know how to make an N/A auto feel bad, thats for sure.

I bought my cruiser based on price from looking at 10-12 other cars. Online and 6-8 dealer visits. I had a Volvo s-60 setup with a dealer in Tampa. It still hurts me when I think about how bad I must have made him feel. He too work on Sunday to get me the car I wanted, then I told him I thought the payments were too much and said I couldn't risk that much.

Sometime I think for a young person I should have gotten something faster but not better. This car is a very wonderful car and has been a fun live style. I should have waited to get the turbo in a few months instead of dropping the check on a TE chrome package. However I have less expensive gas and thats what I based purchase on also.

On a good day my PT is fast, but will still get smoked by most other cars. I find myself feeling like Im killing the engine because most other cars around me accelerate faster and go around and everything else.

I only drive auto's because Im not skilled enough to drive a manual yet. I have driven a 98 Miata, 94 Accord, and 99 Jetta all manual. If there was no first gear then I would be fine. I also can't do hills, luckly there aren't many in florida that you have to worry about.

Someday I will have some money to buy another car that is a stick and practice on that one before buying something else.
