Default Airaid cold air intake

Almost forgot to ask...
How many miles before I need to clean out my cold air intake? ...and how do I go about doing it?
TIA...

I would say everyother oil change or every 6,000 miles.

Just untighten the hose clamp to the filter, remove the filter, read the directions on the filter cleaning kit. I mentions something about soaking it and rinsing it. I have not yet needed to change mine so I really don't know.

I didn't purchase the cleaning kit. What's the best way to clean it without the kit (or should I just get the kit )

Buy the kit, you will need it eventually. Depending on conditions, cleaning and re-oiling every 20-30K should be sufficient.

I would just check it at 6,000 miles and see if its dirty and just knock the dirt out if you can.

Like saxonburgcruiser said its really not needed to clean every six but thats what the stock filter needs. I would check it any way to be sure. Mine has gone over 6,000 and still looks brand new.

Agree on kit. It contains a spray cleaner, and their "special" oil. The directions state much higher miles, that when it's dirty it actually filters better, but I have cleaned mine twice, and it's due again with 73,000+ miles, so 20-25,000 miles is a good guess.
It says to remove debris first (I use shop vac). Spray cleaner & let sit. Stick hose on inside and wash out. Shake & let dry, then re-oil. You'll see after cleaning, it's almost white - it's the read oil that gives it color.
