Krys33,

It is standard procedure for all of the car maufacturers to announce recalls BEFORE they are officially sent to all the owners in the mail. This also gives them time to order the necessary replacement parts or fixes in order to have a supply for the big rush of owners wanting their cars fixed.

Remember a while back there was the rubbing fuel line under the hood? I saw it, zipstripped it, and not only avoided a potential hazzard... I avoided the dealer altogether. Albeit the PS hose is a more involved situation.

Thanks Scott, I know that it takes a while for the letter but they will not even acknowledge it over the phone. Plus I never wait for the letter, that takes WAY too long.

I fully agree that DC is really going slow [B)] on this recall, but, with "only" 9 fires (nine too many) and no injuries out of 438,391 units, this doesn't appear to be a "high risk" safety concern--unless of course, it happens to your car. [V]
I'm curious to know the real number of fires caused by this problem. I spoke with someone who had a fire because of this problem and he insisted that there are 'hundreds and hundreds' of Cruisers that have been affected. Is there a way to know for sure? [:I]
