azptcruiser, I pick my spots when to misbehave, most of the time traffic won't allow anything else.

There is a price to be paid for that smile you get, when you step down on the throttle of a turbo.

Just got back from vacation and have logged a little over 3900 miles. I'll post my average mileage once I have it all figured out. I noticed a couple of things on the trip:

1. Buying fuel fortified with alcohol (to increase octane) will decrease your mileage. I made it a point to purchase quality brands (Chevron, Shell/Texaco) and got the best mileage with those. When I had to purchase other brands with alcohol added my mileage dropped

2. My GT 5-spd. got it's best mileage around 65-67 MPH at elevations below 6,000 feet. My best all-freeway driving at 67-68 MPH was 31.99 MPG.

3. At higher freeway speeds and at higher elevations my mileage dropped considerably. I'll have more info by tomorrow but I'm guessing I averaged around 26 MPG at a steady 79-80 MPH driving through Utah-Nevada.

Hello Hyracer, thanks for the info. I thought alcohol was not recommended for Cruisers, but I guess mixed fuel is better than no fuel.

I keep mileage records for all my cars, and note changes in weather, altittude, road speeds, air conditioning use, and stuff like that. Last road trip 3 days ago, 290 miles with some hills, mostly 2 lane, some passing zones, and what I would call a leisurely pace. 65 mph was about average speed, with the air on for half the trip, and I got 23.0 mpg. I would say I drive with a light foot.
