My 2004 liftgate opens on it's own once I unlock it and get it started.
Manuel says that in cold weather it might not open fully, something about gas in the supports, so I might have to help it along. I told my kids NOT to force it open, especially when they are in a hurry and want to get their gear out of the trunk... Just wondering if anyone has had any difficulties with this and how cold is cold? Thank you |

After opening about 6-12", my tailgate rises on its own. If well below freezing, it needs more help. Having owned several minivans, sooner or later (4-5 years) the struts will no longer hold the gate open - they aren't that expensive or hard to replace.
